Bronze Award for Youth Band

Kinneil Youth Band took part in this year’s Scottish Youth Brass Band Championships and gained a magnificent Bronze award for their efforts. The world’s biggest Youth Brass Band Championship’s took place in Perth Concert Hall on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th November 2012 and involved over 1200 children from over all Scotland during the course of the weekend. Over 25 members from Kinneil Youth Band took part in the Senior Section and were pitted against some of the most experienced, top class and largest youth bands in Scotland.

Playing from a number 3 draw the Youth Band produced a quality programme of music that included pieces such as Nimrod from Enigma Variations and a patriotic version of Loch Lomond that included guest Bagpiper Alison Wood. The band charmed the adjudicators Steven Mead and Tom Brevik and the youngsters hope to build on this result for the future – it was a great experience for all involved.

The Youth Band next engagement is the upcoming Christmas Spectacular Concert that takes place at 7:30pm in Fisons Social Club on Friday 7th December. Tickets priced £5 are on sale now from Brian Holmes (01506 822388) or Ruth Kelly (01506 828721).
