New Musical Director

UNISON Kinneil Band is delighted to announce the appointment of Craig Anderson as their new Musical Director.

Craig brings with him a wealth of experience both as player and conductor. Since taking up the conducting baton in 2002 with Newmilns and Glaston Band, he has gained experience at all levels of competition and can boast of 17 wins and 33 top 6 places in all competitions to date.

Craig currently plays with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and SCO Brass as well as maintaining his busy freelance schedule. In addition to his commitments with brass bands Craig also has an interest in Wind band and orchestral conducting and has organised various education projects and conducted the Scottish Chamber Orchestra’s wind farm events. These projects have been run in conjunction with organisations as diverse as the science museum, Scotland’s National Galleries and UNESCO.

Recently, Craig attended the Allan Withington conductor’s Summer School where he learned a lot about himself during the week. Fresh from the course, full of ideas, we as a band hope to reap the benefits of Craig’s learning that has reignited his enthusiasm to get back involved with brass bands.

A spokesperson for the band said “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Craig Anderson as our new Musical Director. We’re all now looking forward to working to with Craig and hope that we can deliver a partnership of success under his direction.”

UNISON Kinneil Band would also like to take this opportunity to thank Russ Young for the sterling effort and hard work he put in over the last few months with the band.
